We all know that David Cameron likes to give people, (well, some people anyway), second chances, with this being his excuse for giving Andy Coulson the job as The Conservative Party’s Director of communications despite him leaving the News of The World under the cloud of the phone hacking scandal, but now it’s appearing that giving second chances is becoming a guiding principle when it comes to the employment of people his government employ to carry out his policies with Mike O’Donnell’s appointment as Chief Medical Officer of Atos health care in March of this year being a brilliant example of this.
You may ask why is this yet another example of giving somebody a second chance?
For those of you who don’t know, Mike O’Donnell was also Chief Medical Officer of Unum from March 2000 to September 2010 with this being the period when Unum were dragged through the US courts in a massive class action where the California Department of Insurance Commissioner, John Garamendi, stated that, “Unum Provident is an outlaw company. It is a company that has operated in an illegal fashion for years”. By 2007, the American Association for Justice identified Unum Provident as, “The second worst insurance company in the US”, and the company was fined over $30 million dollars for this. They were even, until 2008, banned from carrying out business in over 13 US states, something Unum is now using their complex business structure to deny was anything to do with them as a company, with them saying it was somebody else called Unum. (A bit like the ridiculous not guilty claims you hear of where despite being clearly identified by several eye witnesses the accused says, “It wasn’t me Guv, it was my twin brother” in court), with all this happening on the watch of, yes, the same Mike O’Donnell.
Who next are we going to get at the helm of other private companies the government bring in to implement their policies you may ask?
Peter Sutcliffe, (The Yorkshire Ripper), heading up a private company to sort out the problem of prostitution in our society? Rose West heading up a private company to sort out the wayward girls in our society? Perhaps I shouldn’t be giving them ideas, they may even decide to try and bring Harold Shipman back to life and put him at the helm of a company employed to sort out the problems of OAP’s living too long in our society.
You couldn’t make it up, could you ?

Is this Atos being run by a criminal? Is this man covicted in a court of law? Is the pope a catholic.
Gets better by the day!!!!!!!!!
A morally bankrupt company employs a morally bankrupt man, why would you worry about posting the truth.Let Atos defend this man if they can, however they wrap it up UNUM were convicted and as part of it this man is guilty also.
P – I’m not saying he’s a criminal as such Peter but he was one of the people in charge of Unum when the company got convicted of being a fraudulent business so read what you what to into that.
If this person ran a disability denial factory for UNUM then it is my opinion that he is doing the same for ATOS in the UK. In my opinion this man is a criminal and only money kept him out of prison in the USA and the same is likely to happen in the UK.
BT- he could always say he was only following orders! Ok he wasn’t convicted but he ran the outfit that was.Maybe he didn’t know what was going on under his leadership??Maybe he doesn’t know under his control what Atos are doing either?
Perhaps this poor chap is totally unaware of the policies being passed down through him to implement.
I think it’s a great article, how many politicians know about this man? I’m sure the leaders of the major parties know but what about the minions?
Well done anyway.
I don’t think it’s possible to be too harsh about Atos and Unum..
Did you know that the IPC have elected the former Atos head honcho onto their board?

I would have to agree and will do this very soon.
Black Triangle have received a complaint from both Peter Sutcliffe and Rose West asking us to cease & desist from comparing them with Mike O’Donnell & Atos as they feel that it is libellous and making their reputations worse.
