Exclusive: GPs say they have firm evidence now that the government is planning to privatise the National Health Service as part of its reforms.

  1. An interesting point has been raised in response to this (unsurprising) news: if GPs are essentially going to have a limited role in providing health care, and will be pushed into commissioning private services, does this affect the patient charter that specifies access to choice (which might conceivably take the form of preference for NHS over private care)?
Would making it clear to GPs that we’d choose NHS services have any impact upon their retention?
(Unfortunately I doubt it. In reality I feel we have little real ‘choice’, and I anticipate that this’d be used as an excuse to palm off ‘awkward customers’ onto another gp practice – especially those of us who have essentially expensive complex medical needs)

e-petition - Stop Unfair Re-assessments For Disabled People

Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions

Stop the unfair and cruel re-assessments via ATOS for disabled people currently on Incapacity Benefit. ESA is a flawed benefit, and puts terrible pressure and stress on vulnerable people, putting people who cannot work on lesser benefits and applying sanctions. Let disabled people decide for themselves if they can work, they and their carers know best.
