'A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague' ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero Huck/Konopacki Labor Cartoons

  1. Doctors that do Not Care about People with Anxiety/Depression Need to be Sacked

Doctors who Declare People Fit for Work that are Not Need to be Declared Un Fit
    to Be a Doctor/General Practioner

  2. Shocked and stunned to see Debbie Abrahams,Oldham Labour, telling the house that she thought workfare was a good tool to enable someone unemployed, into full time work…..

Who needs enemies with friends like these…..

  3. The New Labories know there’s no other choice! This is why they can laugh in our faces! (but not so much when they taste our faeces!)

I say vote Independent if you have one. Time to oust the whole bunch of fascists and cloaked pretenders of socialism.

  4. It is sickening to see all the major parties and most MPs with a couple of exceptions supporting this attack on the needy. As I told my MP this will be an event in time which will reflect badly on all the politicians involved. History won’t look kindly on the politicians who allowed the people who caused this mess to go scot free, whilst they hammered down the sick, disabled, and unemployed.

  5. well Labour had about a 0.01% chance of me voting for them anyway , why would I vote for just another wing of the Tory party ? , Tory Tory, Tory Dem or Tory Labour great choice innit ? .

  6. Any ordinary worker found guilty of such incompetence would be sacked but oh no not the right Dishonourable IDS.

The fact that Lib Dems will never oppose anything that would benefit the unemployed, the ill or low paid is taken as a fact, they may as well abolish their party and become Tory MP’s because their is no difference between them.

As for Labour what a disgrace they are, Liam Byrne ex merchant banker join the Tory party and be done with it and take all the rest that support Con Dem policies with you.

If MP’s think workfare is such a great idea then time for them to prove it by doing it themselves for £71 a week for six weeks.
I suggest they all give it a try during their long bloated summer holidays.

Changing the law to suit themselves how lower can they get?

  7. What makes me laugh so much is that they sell you down the river, big style, then purport to be concerned by bringing in small amendments…..

    Labour Party, chimps tea party……

……..and as for Liam Byrne, a merchant banker in every respect. In tandem with Timmins, the lost cause, funnier than Laurel and Hardy……..

  8. Could someone confirm this ?.

I remember reading some years ago that Atos were first started up by the wife of a high ranking Australian Libor politician. I only bring this up as it is strange that it was New Labour that first brought Atos into all this, some connection we don’t know about ?, does that Australian Libor politician and his wife still have somekind of stake in Atos ?, being both sister parties what kind of connection do some in New Labour have with that Australian Libor politician. Of course that high ranking Australian Libor politician may not be in a position of power now ?.

Something very strange about all this…

  9. These are misleading figures from the BBC. They state that 1 in 5 had the decision reversed

It should be more than 1 in 3 people had the decision reversed

Because their figures include those that never appealed! They never tried to get the decision reversed so should not be included.

Hardly surprising that this thread’s main topic was absent from tonight’s news on the BBC or am I being cynical?

  10. It’s disappointing that only half appealed but understandable given the stress and obstacles put in the way to make an appeal.
It makes you wonder what has happened to all those people who never appealed because I doubt very much that they are fit to work.
Any decent investigative journalist would have went further and found out why only half appealed and at least interviewed some of those affected.

  11. I watched some of the speeches in this debate on BBC parliament some of the labour back bench contributors were quite vitriolic against the bill. The making of retroactive legislation is stuff of despots and dictators. This is a major challenge to the judiciary and is the beginning of a dangerous slide towards a state of emergency situation which will silence all opposition.
As for the labour leadership they should all be summonsed to their constituency parties and questioned on their failure to oppose such and all disability attacks .

We need a new Peoples Protection Party. This should be based on the old labour movements principles as encapsulated in the old clause four of the constitution that was abandoned by Blair and new labour.

    Clause IV
To secure for the workers by hand or by brain the full fruits of their industry and the most equitable distribution thereof that may be possible upon the basis of the common ownership of the means of production, distribution and exchange, and the best obtainable system of popular administration and control of each industry or service.

Shame shame shame on Milliband and his pseudo socialist mob of cowards.

  12. The trade unions should consider withdrawing all funding from Labour and form another party that protects all the true producers of wealth and providers of essential services along with the providers of all utilities water gas electricity. All based on common ownership. The present Labour party is like a cancer on the body politic of all of us who rely on them they have let millions down and are doomed to dustbin of history. The danger is more despotic parties could fill the void if no viable alternative can be built quickly.

  13. BROKEN BRITAIN UNDER TORIES- – FASCIST SMITH GETS HIS WAY
It’s a very dangerous sign of the times when an Illegal act by a Government can be altered as though it never occurred .What if the Tories had not got rid of Fascist Smith as their leader where would we be now ,he has done enough damage to this County and the Public as the head of DWP. Workfare was found to be Illegal so the Tories re-wrote the script and will have to reimburse Workfare Claimants £130 million .Sad thing was Labour voted with the Government for this change .

  14. One has to feel really sorry for the likes of Mr Meacher and a handful of the real, die hard socialists. They exhibit real, old fashioned labour values which seek to protect the most vulnerable in our society.
Contrary to this, we see the merchant banker, out of touch policies that are exhibited by certain factions of the party.
Sadly this faction is erasing the original values of the party. In effect they mirror the aspirations of the other side.

Considering the vote taken to deny £130 million to the poorest, whilst giving a trillion to bail out the bankers, my faith has faded into obscurity……….

Mr Meacher must be in a lonely position where he is really trying to retain labour values whilst being knifed in the back from his colleagues.

The vote in question, laid down a precedent, whereas any court action brought by the people will now, almost certainly, be overturned at a whim!

Suffice to say, the vote almost certainly cemented opinions of labour voters, in that we have been pissed upon from a great height from the very people that purport to air our views……….

    Shame on you……..

e-petition - Stop Unfair Re-assessments For Disabled People

Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions

Stop the unfair and cruel re-assessments via ATOS for disabled people currently on Incapacity Benefit. ESA is a flawed benefit, and puts terrible pressure and stress on vulnerable people, putting people who cannot work on lesser benefits and applying sanctions. Let disabled people decide for themselves if they can work, they and their carers know best.
