Record View: Bedroom tax’s trail of misery
THE callous bedroom tax continues to trample across the lives of the most vulnerable people in Scotland.
Amputee Andrew McIntyre now has to find an extra £50 a month for his two-bedroom flat after his elderly mother has been forced to move to a care home.
It is only because of her illness that he has found himself in a flat deemed to be too large for him under current rules.
The social landlord who rents the flat to McIntyre charges him the same rent but his housing benefit is cut by £50 a month.
Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith knows this is not an isolated case and that there is not enough single bedroom accommodation for people affected by the changes.
People like Andrew will live on less, or more likely, fall into arrears and poverty trying to keep up with rent payments.
Transition funding is available but that is a sticking plaster solution when a plan of home building would create work and homes for social rent.
That is part of Labour’s long-term plan but Ed Miliband and Ed Balls’ firm have to answer what they would do about the hated bedroom tax.

The Tories are evil, Labour aspire to be just as evil. Vote Yes to end wastemidden rule.
Francis Mooney 10/6/2013
Labour can’t because Labour introduced this “tax” in 2008.

That’s part of the point I’ve been making for months now.
Today, and sadly, the Tories are setting Labour’s agenda on welfare spending, arms expenditure and defence and many other subjects. You can hardly put a fag paper between them.
Lack of Old Labour principles – but an abundance of New Labour spineless leadership’! Now watch your step for the tripe that’s about to be chuckled !!!

I guess IDS is working on the basis that the more people who commit suicide because of his demonic policies, the more money he is saving. We are being governed by a bunch of psychopaths.
IF I SAW THAT BASTARD IDS IN THE STREET I WOULD KICK THE F’ING SHIT OUT OF HIM, OH SORRY I MENT IT, OH GOD HOW I WOULD ENJOY THAT SO MUCH,I NEVER USED TO BE EVIL THOUGHTED BUT ITS AMAZING HOW EVIL PEOPLE CAN CHANGE YOU!
Balls is already stating that he would fall in line with tory economic policy – indeed reckons thing will be worse with less ‘money around’. There is no way labour will remove the bedroom tax from legislature. Amongst the elites there is no climate for change. There is only the continual screwing (killing) of the vulnerable. For all those who still think labour can be a positive force – you are wrong. For all those who think we live in a democracy- you are wrong.
Try asking Balls what he was doing at Bilderberg – go on ………
Ed Balls is rather badly named since he hasn’t fucking got any! }:D
There is no Labour Party, the oone that started the NHS & the Welfare State. All the politions have shares in Private companies trading on the Stock Exchange. There is no politics just corporate politics on the board.
RIP The Labour Party.
BROKEN BRITISH POLITICS – BEDROOM TAX SUICIDE
A protest is being staged in Birmingham on Saturday in memory of a woman who commited suicide over the bedroom tax. The demonstration, organised by Birmingham Benefits Justice Campaign, will remember Stephanie Bottrill who left a note blaming the government for her death.
She had been told she would need to pay an extra £20 a week because she lived alone in a three bedroom house after her two children had grown up and moved out.
The demonstration is at 12pm on Saturday in Chamberlain Square.
A freedom of information act request by the Labour Party published in April found 13,557 households are affected by the bedroom tax in Birmingham but just 368 one- and two-bedroom properties are currently unoccupied.
The campaigners have demanded that the council refuse to evict tenants who fall into arrears as a result of the bedroom tax .http://brokenbritishpolitucs.simplesite.com
“Employ-E had about 60,000 low-paid temporary workers on its books, who it supplied to recruitment agencies throughout the UK.”
