  1. I went into hospital voluntarily in sept 2012 with severe depression. I was treated like a sectioned patient. I was not allowed out even for walks. after two weeks in i wanted to go for an hour with my wife for something to eat on my birthday. i was not allowed out. then i was promised walks outside with a member of staff everyday, but i asked five days in a row and got the reply that they were too short staff. I received no treatment in the hospital about from dispensing my medication twice per day. Unless i made a point of speaking to the nurses, i was only approached by nurses about three times during my three week stay. I only got out after weeks by getting a mental health advocate to speak on my behalf at a weekly review meeting. on the two times i had asked to discharge myself previously i was threatened with a mental health section.

I would never voluntarily admit myslef to hospital again, as i have received much more support within the community.

  3. What a wonderful ‘Big Caring Society’ we would all have if these Tories were to get another term in power!

e-petition - Stop Unfair Re-assessments For Disabled People

Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions

Stop the unfair and cruel re-assessments via ATOS for disabled people currently on Incapacity Benefit. ESA is a flawed benefit, and puts terrible pressure and stress on vulnerable people, putting people who cannot work on lesser benefits and applying sanctions. Let disabled people decide for themselves if they can work, they and their carers know best.
