e-petition - Stop Unfair Re-assessments For Disabled People
Responsible department: Department for Work and Pensions
Stop the unfair and cruel re-assessments via ATOS for disabled people currently on Incapacity Benefit. ESA is a flawed benefit, and puts terrible pressure and stress on vulnerable people, putting people who cannot work on lesser benefits and applying sanctions. Let disabled people decide for themselves if they can work, they and their carers know best.

Perhaps Osborne and Camoron are trying for a beggar led recovery?
This is a good article from Polly Toynbee that more or less tells it like it is. She says, “I refuse to believe most people would not be shocked if they knew, if they saw and if they understood. Even some of the 30% who always vote Tory might be appalled if they weren’t so well deceived by their ministers, MPs and newspapers, who lie knowingly and deliberately. People should know that historians will record the earthquake of social destruction that happened in their name, while they read of nothing but “scroungers” and the “soaring benefit bill”.
I hope she is right!
If Toynbee had supported Gordon Brown in the last general election and not allowed herself to be brain-washed by our hysterical right-wing media, we might not be in the mess we’re in. Labours solution to the WORLD-WIDE crisis was to put in place the stategies Obama has and look how well the Americans sre doing!
Does anyone think that the Government chose to start this legislation on all fools day in the hope that the public could be conned into thinking that it is all a giant April Fools joke?
Civil unrest, the likes of which British shores have never witnessed before.
“THE END OF THE BEGINNING OR THE BEGINNING OF THE END”
Only time will tell……………
These cuts including the bedroom tax must be the Con Dems poll tax. If people don’t
protest and even riot at the injustice of it all then there is no hope for any of us.
Back in 2009 people where posting on sky that they were fedup with Labour and wanted the Tories in number 10 well they got their wish and now we are and paying the price! but as Cameron never won outright and if the truth be known he had polling stations closed early & had voters turned away hence the birth of this ConDem useless lot of Ah*l* He should now be given notice too leave number 10 by the voters then all his main buddies should be arrested and charged with crimes against the people of the UK and stripped of their millionaire status? and over seas bank accounts
On BBC news, Iain Duncan Smith, confronted with irrefutable cases of hardship, said: “It’s about trying to get as many people as possible out of the welfare trap and into lives they can control themselves.”
Aye even if it kills them!
How can these people have any control when no-one will employ them & pay to help them to live .Typical statement from IDS that contradicts itself . How can someone seen medically unfit for work by the Jobcentres due to the fake medical by Atos saying the contrary take control of their lives with no income ?
dear Polly
this has been coming for years, via new labour to the condems
the dangers have been highlighted for years
campaigns have been fought
it’s all a little bit late love – enjoy the weekend in your meditteranean villa
good luck on the bedroom tax walks.
A good appraisal of the present situation but no mention of what to do to reverse this onslaught. It’s great to be a commentator getting well paid but joining the fray is another thing.
We all blame the condems but we forget that foundations for this desecration of the vision of 1945 was laid in the Blair years. They brought in ATOS and were in league with American companies who were advising on steering things towards private insurance systems.
They have not done that yet but that will be the next thing if they win power again. We have to form some kind of Alliance party to challenge all the main parties at the next election if we are to stand a chance of changing things for the better.
Bedroom tax it’s laughable! It’s a tax on mansions, second home owners and greedy BTL landlords that needs imposing before we all end up as serfs at the mercy of our landlords/Lords.
