Iain Duncan Smith and the Missing DWP-ATOS Mortality Statistics

Dom is a Musician and Composer. He started a petition on Change.org calling for Iain Duncan Smith to live on £53 a week.

Iain Duncan Smith is a man on the run, and with good reason, as an ever increasing number of damaging facts pursue him.

On the 4 September he was scheduled for questioning by the Work and Pensions Select Committee, for his persistent misuse of statistics in relation to welfare. He cancelled, excusing himself on the basis that the department’s annual report was not ready. The appointment was rescheduled for November 25, but again he requested this be postponed. The date is now December 9, but there is every chance he will try to avoid it again.

Of the various topics he could be questioned on the most serious comes from a Canadian-based academic, Samuel Miller, who through a protracted series of freedom of information requests and correspondences with the DWP (Department for Work and Pensions), has revealed evidence that the department is refusing to release the mortality statistics for disabled people on welfare for 2012-2013.

On November 6 2012 Miller wrote to the department requesting statistics for the number of disabled people on welfare who had died that year; statistics which the department has previous provided in response to freedom of information requests for 2009-2011. Ten days later he received a response from the head of correspondence, Mr Goff Daft, saying “I am sorry that the information you require is not readily available. As this would take a considerable length of time to pull together I am unable, at this stage, to tell you when the next report will be available.”

It took over seventh months and two further request for the data, before he received the following response on June 24th 2013 “The publication you refer to was released on (sic) Department’s website as an ad-hoc statistical analysis publication. As such there is no intention of releasing an updated version of these statistics.”

Miller says the department has the data, but refuses to release it. Unsurprising perhaps considering the unaccountable example set by Iain Duncan Smith’s leadership, in which he has evaded select committee meetings, ducked the parliamentary debate on his bedroom tax, and hand-picked obsequious and power friendly journalists for his rare interviews. Despite this the DWP projects a flattering image of itself as open and transparent, Tweeting regularly with the hashtag “#opendata“, and stating in a document called “DWP Open Data” that:

The department is committed to Open Data and improving the use that can be made of the rich source of data it holds on much of the population. Our mission is to embed a culture of transparency so that more and more data is released routinely for wider re-use.

These contradictions may make one question how the DWP’s workers can tolerate conditions so foul and dishonest. An email reportedly from an anonymous DWP employee, posted on the anti-cuts disability group Black Triangle’s website offers an insight:

“I am going through a divorce caused by my depression at what I am doing each day… I can’t actually believe that I am working for these people – that I am partially to blame and part of what is being done to innocent people.”

In this dire situation which Amnesty International has called “the abrogation of the human rights of sick and disabled people” blame should not be restricted purely to the government, Iain Duncan Smith, the DWP and its partner Atos, but also the corporate media, whose dishonest and self-censoring coverage of the welfare cuts has created a mass distorted worldview, which serves to rationalise economic attacks from a wealth elite, against the most under-represented sections of the population.

As a result the lead in speaking the truth freely has been taken by ordinary citizens, who often, but not always, are victims of the cuts. A lively underground internet media has developed with blogs such as DPACBlack TriangleWOWpetitionJayne LinneyMike SivierSamuel Miller, and innumerable other social media accounts, speaking in a free manner, alien to the otherwise delimited mainstream debate. This media is responsible for the select committee meeting being called, after Jayne Linney started a Change.org petition requesting it, and this media revealed the DWP’s refusal to release disability mortality statistics, thanks to the work of Samuel Miller.

Iain Duncan Smith’s upcoming appointment with the select committee on December 9 will be a test of the honesty of the British media. If our elected representatives are pressured to ask hard questions which represent the concerns of the population, and with reference to the evidence painstakingly gathered by citizen media, it may mark the moment this government’s perceived moral basis and central argument truly collapses. That is, if it is reported, or reported with any honesty, at all.

We too have been seeking to obtain some statistical information from the government but have encountered considerable delays despite several reminders.

The area we have been looking at are those on Contributory ESA- particularly those in the WRAG group.

This contains many people who have long term disabilities / condition and, as a result, had oftent been in receipt of Incapacity Benefit – having been through medical assessment and, if necessary, appeals- over several- or even many-years to ensure their full entitlement to those benefits.

However, under the 12 month rule – their condition and the resulting disabilities are just as bad- or in many cases worse- than previously

Nevertheless,if they are not deemed – rightly or wrongly – sufficiently disabled to qualify for the Support Group – then their Contributory ESA runs out after 12 months. This has already been the case for many people in this category and more will follow over the coming months

If they have a working partner – even one on limited income – or either have savings then they loose all benefit even though it is accepted that they are unable to work

Our experience of people in this category is that in many cases the DWP seem to be just “running down the clock” to the 12 month cut off – knowing that entitlement to all benefits will then cease

In effect these people are “written off” in that they cannot:

1)Work – DWP accept they are unfit for this as they are still in Contributory WRAG albeit unable to claim benefit
2)Claim JSA – they are not able to say they are fit and looking for work – as they are neither
    3) Receive any WRAG “assistance” to help them to return to work – though in many long term conditions this is not viable anyway- even if it was they are off the “books” and out of sight and out of mind
4)Cannot make a further Contributory ESA claim – unless they return to work to build this up – ie “Catch 22”
5)Assuming they do not separate from their working partner they will be unable to claim Income Related ESA or any other benefits – until retirement age

This is not a reduction in benefit- but a total loss of it – not for a period – but, in effect, permanently

We asked our MP – and in turn she passed these queries on to the minister, Lord Freud, as to what had happened to the people in the above category – which we understood to number c 160000- ie how many had been assessed and, of those, how many had gone into Support Group, WRAG and fit for work respectively and how these results compared with those in the same Income related groups and in particular how many had lost all benefit on the 12 month rule alone – ie it was accepted their condition and ability to work was the same or worse than before and the loss of benefit – potentially till retirement- related purely to the arbitrary 12 month period- ie how much had been “saved” simply by the 12 month cut off and nothing else.

Effectively, financial “responsibility” for those losing out on the Contributory ESA WRAG 12 month rule has been totally transferred to their partners income or their cumulative savings.

The government often praises hard work and thrift and presumably this is what it is meant to be used for

Needless to say despite reminders- and a considerable period having elapsed- as with Mr Miller- no response has been received from the minister on the substantive issues and requests for statistics

We continue to press all these issues- and the minister for a response- and in the meantime would be interested to know of any others in the same “boat”.

    • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 21, 2013 at 12:09 am

Yes, in the same boat also…..

Had my Incapacity stopped after being awarded zero points at a sham ATOS medical in July 2012.
They continued to pay me till Nov 2012 whilst telling me persistently that i would only be paid if i got a letter from my GP stating that i was not fit enough to work.

Strangely, i had previously been told at a medical tribunal that i was “disabled for life”, and had been awarded Industrial Injury Benefit for an accident at work that had deemed me, unfit to work because of my injury.

Furthermore, after i had been deemed, unfit for work, i was issued with a letter from the DWP, stating that i did not have to send in any more sick notes.

I did not fall into the psychological trap of going back to my GP for further sick notes as it was common knowledge that the DWP had written to GP’s and instructed them not to issue sick notes to claimants who had been deemed, fit for work.
I put in an appeal immediately, citing that, according to legislation, GP’s are not trained to make an assessment on a persons capability for work……….
This paragraph is taken from a response by the DWP, to a freedom of information request.
The DWP response also states categorically that a GP is able to give “simple fitness for work advice to aid their patients recovery and help them return to work”.

Since last November i was forced to live on my DLA and Industrial Injury Benefit.

The DWP then stopped my IIB for a period of eight months for no apparent reason, it was then reinstated after sending me a letter telling me that another letter would follow, explaining why they stopped it. An explanation was not forthcoming………

A few months back i received a thirty five page questionnaire concerning my DLA.
Apparently they wanted to know if my circumstances had changed, they needed it to ensure my payments were correct.

I found this rather strange as Esther Mcvey had told parliament that existing holders of DLA, would not be called upon to move to the new PIP benefit till October 2015……….

The content of the questionnaire was exactly like a PIP questionnaire and the questions, in no way reflect the conditions of a disabled person whatsover.

I sent a FOI request to the DWP asking why these questionnaires were being sent to existing DLA holders before Oct 2015.
I also said that this was a game of entrapment, stating that whatever the claimant was to put, would be deemed a change of circumstance that would mean being sent on another ATOS examination, having benefits further reduced ahead of their stated schedule.

Writing to the DWP, i explained that my circumstances had not changed.

Following this i received notification that they had stopped my DLA.
      I have appealed.

Since they stopped my DLA, i have been informed that my ESA appeal is to be heard in mid January 2014.

The whole episode has caused stress beyond comprehension, leaving me, my partner and seventeen year old son, to struggle along……………

Attacks against the disabled are in breach of Human Rights, Equality and Disability Discrimination Legislation.

Just recently on yahoo news thread it reported that DWP was out of control..spending excessive sums on pointless projects..ignoring court rulings…
Another item said that Atos was a licence to print money with too much influence and had not paid any corporation tax..
on twitter i was challenged for ages by a few strange characters denying there had been any deaths at all..

what happened to atos victims group? was it closed down as of late any attempt to go that blog is met with FORBIDDEN..

also its noted that Atos runs gov gateway which includeds UJM and NHS services..which is galling considering the harm they have caused and the fact that they said they will be using GP surgeries to carry out PIP assessments as well as NHS hospital physio wards…which makes no sense as the have their own assessment centres..i can only conclude that the reason is to annoy patients who will think that ‘scroungers’ are jumping the queue…all very concerning..

  • bobchewie November 20, 2013 at 11:59 pm

on the subject of complicity in the MSM i noted a number of articals caliming the ‘calums list’ of deaths was a ‘new low’ by anti cuts campaigners..also the absurd delingpole telegraph item claiming most if not all disabled claimants were fakers and they were doing it deliberately to ruin the economy !! yes he is quite mad..
on another note it was said that DWP seems to contrive policy for the sole purpose of seeking approval from the daily mail..
    before its put into usage..

  • bobchewie November 21, 2013 at 12:07 am

btw i see simon stevens is still trotting out his atos deaths as ‘urban myths’ well he would he works for atos..

        Healthcare going online?

We know people often go online to seek advice and answers to any questions they may have about the ESA process. We’ve worked hard to make sure that the Atos Healthcare blog and FAQ are as comprehensive and useful as possible for people at any stage of their claim. However, we’re aware that many people also use online communities, such as MoneySavingExpert.com, to seek information and answers about the process.

We therefore feel that there’s an opportunity for us to be more helpful to customers by making ourselves available on select forums and online communities to answer queries about our process.  We’ll be piloting this over the next few weeks to see if we can make a positive difference.

What do we hope to achieve?

A lot of myths and confusion exist around the WCA process, which can often heighten people’s level of concern.  By directly publishing responses to queries raised on forums and online communities, we can help to ensure accurate information reaches people.

Naturally, we’ll be transparent about how we go about this.  We’ll seek permission to post from site administrators or forum moderators and we’ll clearly signpost who we are  when we respond.  We can only answer questions about our process, but if there’s a query about a part of the process that we don’t manage, we’ll try to tell you where you can go for help

Oh and I am sure you will not help..but just lie like you always do…

…………….and the cemeteries are straining at the gates with all the people ATOS and their stooges, the DWP, have helped…

Civil servants told to judge whether disabled deserve benefits by GOOGLING their illnesses
      20 Nov 2013 00:00

Leaked memo reveals Department for Work and Pensions staff were instructed to look online when assessing Disability Living Allowance and Attendance Allowance claims
      . .

Civil servants have been told they can judge whether to pay benefits to the sick by Googling their illnesses, after proper tests were scrapped.

In a memo leaked yesterday, Department for Work and Pensions staff were instructed to look online when assessing new claims for Disability Living Allowance for under 18s and Attendance Allowance for over 65s.

Shadow Work Secretary Rachel Reeves accused the Tory-led Government of showing “utter contempt” for disabled people.

The Labour MP said: “Out-of-touch ministers need to explain to disabled people how they’ve got to a situation where guidance is being issued telling civil servants to look for advice on complex disability cases on the internet.

“It’s just one more sign of the utter incompetence of DWP Ministers and their total contempt for a fair assessment process for disability benefits.

“It beggars belief that staff are instructed to look online for information on complex medical conditions until a full service is resumed.”

The fiasco comes after medical examinations run by hated contractor ATOS were scrapped and the rolling out of the new benefit, Personal Independence Payment — which is replacing DLA — was delayed.

Disabled people whose conditions have worsened are also being assessed by officials surfing the web.

The November 7 DWP staff bulletin stated: “Medical Practitioners will no longer be available as a source of evidence.”

Decision makers are advised to consult the “recognised internet sites such as Cancer Research UK and NHS Choices”.

Other suggestions include phoning the claimant or their carer, discussing the case with colleagues and seeking advice from social services.

But the DWP stressed officials were not just looking conditions up online.

A spokesman said: “Decision makers can also use information from sources including the claim form, care plans, medical reports and carers.”

    • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 30, 2013 at 12:16 pm

………..as strange as it may seem, somebody has requested freedom of information access to the memorandum that was issued to staff within the DWP.

The memorandum is further proof that this department is losing the plot completely when it comes to diagnosis of a claimants, physical or mental, disabilities.

Now ATOS has been secreted in the background, obviously for violating codes that the government instructed them to violate in the first instance, the DWP have now been instructed to turn to the internet………………….

Who needs trained medical staff nowadays when you can teach a nurse in a few days, cheap doctrines of how to discredit a patients disabilities, by sending them to Derby University.

It makes me wonder if they have access to the Observers book of Disability Denial…….

DISABILITY DENIAL is what all this contrived fiasco is about, a method of unleashing private health insurance on our shores using the connivance of a select group of influential people to infiltrate the powers that be…………

The FACULTY OF OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE has been a springboard for those select people, acting in the interests of the much discredited american, UNUM INSURANCE GROUP and ATOS, to launch this attack on U.K. markets………..

Just do a bit of googling and the links with these discredited companies become sinisterley apparent.

BILL GUNNYEON, now the CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER OF THE DWP,is the kingpin behind this scandal that is yet to rock politics. Indeed, nearly every link to any event that he has chaired or spoken at, bears fruit as to the existence of corporate management sponsorship from these firms.

Each and every venue has the same participants, the same participants who have succesfully steered the government down a one way street.
Perhaps i am being a bit modest here, because the government are also part of the bigger picture, as are the AUSTERITY, WELFARE REFORMS, that have been unleashed on the weakest and poorest within our shores…………….
All part of a bigger corporate plan that was enabled by a handful of carefully chosen people.

Dame Carol Black, Paul Lichfield and Bill Gunnyeon have all been prime movers in the movement aimed at introducing private health insurance by the back door.

The decommissioning of the NHS is the biggest part of the plan. PRIVATISATION BY DECEPTION.

      To bolster what i am saying, just red the following lines that show the UNUM link;
TAEN CONFERENCE, Sponsored by UNUM, London 29th oct 2008.

Among the morning speakers were; Dr Bill GUNNYEON (DWP)……

But, as Dr Bill Gunnyeon, former president of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, pointed out in May, occupational medicine will need to broaden its horizons to address not only the health needs of people at work, but those of the working age population as a whole. Anything that helps people who have been ill to get back into work would be broadly welcomed by OH professionals, argues Dr Barbara Kneale, occupational health and safety advisor at car manufacturer Peugeot Citron in Coventry.

Simon Burns (Minister of State (Health), Health; Chelmsford, Conservative)

We are not aware of any meetings between officials and UNUM. However, Dame Carol Black, expert adviser on health and work to the Department, met them on three occasions in January 2012 to discuss the positive relationship between work and health.

Commenting, Professor Michael O’Donnell, Chief Medical Officer at Unum said:

“Dame Carol Black’s ‘fit note’ will be a major step forward in addressing attitudes towards sickness and the sooner we can introduce it, the better. Changing the mindset and therefore attitudes is the critical first step in bringing about a real and effective change in approach by all parties.

Dr Bill Gunnyeon stood down in May after three years as head of the faculty to became chief medical adviser at the Department for Work and Pensions, where he will play a key role in plans to get millions of people off incapacity benefit and back into work. The role and importance of work in the lives of people and the interaction between health and work now has a profile and a focus that it has never had before, and our specialty encompasses a unique set of skills and experience that can make a significant contribution to this agenda,” Gunnyeon added.

Chief medical adviser warns that funding requests will be challenged

A tax break for companies that fund interventions to get absent employees back to work will be considered by the Government, but much work needs to be done to analyse its implications.

This was the message from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) to insurers, healthcare professionals and employer representatives at the Association of British Insurers this morning.

“Any conference I have been to, it [removing tax disincentives to fund healthcare] is one of the things that employers have consistently raised and I understand that,” said Dr Bill Gunnyeon, chief medical adviser at the DWP. “But I’m not making any promises.”

Geoffrey .. Dig deep into the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (registered as an independent charity) and you will find that they too are a member of the same Atos family along with their partner the Royal College of Physicians of which the FOM is a faculty member of, and living rent free in the same accommodation.. By both groups distancing themselves and pertaining to be a different organisation from Atos/Unum they can gain additional seats on government advisory panels, give support to policies, and be additionally consulted on new legislation to give strength to the intended changes., all whilst being part of that same group.

In 2009 the FOM held their 30th Anniversary celebration at the House of Lords supported by their sponsors Serco and Atos Healthcare..

Occupational health services serving more than 1,000,000 Government and private employees had achieved SEQOHS accreditation by October 2012. this is managed by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) on behalf of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FOM). Staff working for some of the country’s biggest employers are receiving occupational health advice and support from accredited services; this includes 1,000,000 staff looked after by ATOS healthcare. A hint came from Cameron when he said “We are all in it together.”.

@geoff i found out about the FOM a while. Ago with their course of disability assessing and that course being run by Atos.

Perhaps smiffy will go on an extended vacation around that time.
The DWP out of control and its glorious leader always away from the scene.
They should be questioning A4e etc since they pretty much run the place…

Having my benefits taken from me has had other knock on effects that have put more strain on our finances……

My son has now moved to sixth form college that is a few miles away. Each day he has to pay bus fares to and from the college and also pay for his meals as well.
I was sent a letter informing me that if i was receiving certain benefits i could claim for these things. Because my benefits have terminated we have to pay.
As a result of my DLA being taken, my mobility has also gone out of the window. The car, an old one, sits on the drive, untaxed and uninsured. We are forced onto expensive public transport to shop.
Having not being able to afford to light the gas fire for the last four years, we sit huddled in our small front room, wearing multiple pieces of clothing to keep warm. Ice forms on the insides of our windows and doors………..
Oddly, we received a letter informing us that we could qualify for a grant for extra insulation, modern boiler or help with central heating and reduced running costs, sadly, again, these are not in reach because the benefits to access these items have been stolen from us.

    • bobchewie November 21, 2013 at 10:40 am

Eric I wonder if its all just to confuse the feck out of us..we don’t let you starve or freeze .but we will anyway its just that we don’t want to be seen as mean..its image dear citizen that’s what concerns us…

  • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 21, 2013 at 11:02 am

Reminds me of the concerted efforts of the nazis within the concentration camps, having a last ditch effort to cremate as many witnesses to the horror of their ways, as possible, just before the liberating troops came on scene…….

Filing cabinets were taken outside and destroyed but shrewd jewish trustees had kept duplicate documentation hidden from there arian masters in such an event happening.

The trail of information and eye witness accounts led to the Nuremberg gallows where the architects of death met their own fates, sadly at a termination of life much easier than they had bestowed upon the victims of inexcusable hate crimes………

    • bobchewie November 21, 2013 at 11:11 am

@geoff well at least the Nazis had the sense to give up and lose the war..this lot just keep on dishng out misery day after day.thats just plain stubborn that is…

  • jed goodright November 21, 2013 at 3:24 pm

Mike Penning at the DWP reckons that asking for details on the numbers of disabled people dying as a result of the ‘welfare’ (not social security) is scaremongering of the most unpleasant kind!!!!

What should we do then – quietly acquiesce to his murderous cover-up??? The parallels between what is happening to disabled people here and those in Nazi Germany are too close for comfort. None of the Ministers at the DWP are innocent, they all know what they are doing and maybe becoming more embarrassed everyday, hence their foul rhetoric. Smith, McVey, Penning, Miller, Grayling are all implicated and should stand before the Court of Public Decency, be tried and shot at the first instant. This murder has to STOP

  • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 21, 2013 at 3:36 pm

I got really pissed off with the debate in the commons about army personnel and the use of reservists………

The toffee nosed bastards who line the benches, have double barreled names and talk with a marble in their mouth are akin to same bastards of old………….

Sending people to their deaths from the safety of a leather bench in Westminster and hiding in purpose built bunkers at the mere crack of a rifle shot.

These arseholes who send our troops to the front line could’nt give a toss about the young men and women who sacrifice their lives on a daily basis. Indeed, when they come back injured, minus a limb or whatever, they are thrown into the hands of ATOS and have the benefits they require, denied.

When politicians and royalty are seen visiting our troops there is always an iron cordon around them. Usually the Ghurkas, who they treat like rotten meat and second class citizens………

Put a firework near any of the hooray henries in power and watch the backs of their heads disappearing over the hillside.

Furthermore, while MP’s are squabbling over their ill gotten expenses our troops are still going into combat ill equipped.

“Jolly good old chap”. WHAT A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS!

It’s really cold in here, but slightly warmer than being outside.
I constantly hear sobbing and sometimes a tap on the top.

Never did i think that my disability would afford me a place like this, but my little urn is where the collaboration between ATOS and the DWP decided i should be…………………………………..

  • Julie Hutchinson November 21, 2013 at 5:42 pm

Spotted this on a freedom of information request to DWP.

The atrocity of what is going on away from the public’s eyes is just scandalous.

They treat people who are in dire straits as cannon fodder for their insensitive campaign of bullying. People are genuinely in need of money to live. Starvation is a reality.

Dear Department for Work and Pensions,

I am currently 3 weeks into a 13 week sanction on my jobseekers
allowance and am currently receiving zero income. I asked about
receiving hardship money but apparently am am not classed as being
vulnerable so i will have to wait a few more weeks before i can get
    any hardship payments.
Yet today when i went to sign on at the job center i was told i
must sign an updated jobseekers agreement. On this jobseekers
agreement it said amongst many other things ”i will phone six
employers a week” and ”i will visit five employers a week” and
”i will write to seven employers a week”. I explained to my
adviser that i am on a sanction and that i have nil income so how
was i expected to pay for all of these things? My adviser replied
”that’s not my problem, you have to be available for work to be
entitled to jobseekers allowance so sign this or i’ll close your
Again i explained, and even pleaded with this adviser that i’m in a
desperate financial situation with no access to ANY money. I asked
if they would pay my travel expenses six days a week if i came to
the jobcentre to use their phones, i was told ”no”. I asked if i
could claim upfront travel expenses to visit seven employers a
week, i was told ”no”. I asked if they would give me seven second
class stamps for me to write to employers every week, i was told
”no”. So i was basically forced to sign a contract that i can’t
    possibly live up to.
So my question is, how on earth am i expected to fulfill my side of
the contract and do everything it says on it when you have
sanctioned me and i have absolutely zero income?

    Yours faithfully,

    Rebecca Watkins

The whole crooked system has been brought to the attention of wider public attention.

Thanks to help from Samuel Miller and many stalwarts of disability discrimination, the story has hit the world wide web, and more importantly, the Human Rights Commission…………….

Did the powers that be really think they could destroy innocent peoples lives, many ending in tragedy or death, and go unnoticed????

Atos and the evil, DWP, have collaborated to steal benefits of the poor and most vulnerable, the disabled.
The internet has given the opportunity for those who have been wronged, and their fellow supporters, to put up a fight never seen before……….

The BULLIES are in denial as the septic tank of evidence against them starts to overflow. You are witnessing people power in action. We might have physical or mental disabilities but were born human beings, nevertheless.

Despite reassurances from the DWP that everything is in order and going to plan the evidence against this says otherwise.

Millions that have been stolen from benefit claimants have been poured into slapdash, doomed exercises to try and streamline the benefit system.

The system has had a string of bosses and advisers that have readily filled there pockets and cleared off sporting bulging wallets and smiling faces, only to leave the fallout to the next phase who have done the same……..

All the companies involved are accused of fiddling on an epic scale and the money lost is staggering. 140 million pounds is being written off as we speak. That money was robbed from your pockets, the taxpayer………….

As for being rolled out in trials across the country, it couldn’t be rolled out in a village, or a pastry board, come to think of it………….

………as for ATOS, the great fire breathing dragon of corporate industry, they are now a three legged blind mouse, struggling to enroll staff because they know they will sued for illegal practices at the behest of the DWP.
The contract between ATOS and the DWP has always been kept from public scrutiny, the reason, despite what the government say, is blatantly obvious, they were employed to “steal benefits”.

Would you, if you were a HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL (please stop laughing), put your head in a noose and deliberate on a persons disabilities, knowing you could be sued, especially if recorded evidence showed you deliberately lied?

The roles are now reversed as the mouse is chasing the cat.
Atos the bully is getting it’s comeuppence, and not before time.

Meanwhile, the members of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, the likes of Bill Gunnyeon of the DWP must be twitching uncontrollably as the noose tightens.

These people created the path for the giant American, Insurance giant, UNUM, to invade our shores with it’s well documented, disability denial programmes, of which you, are it’s victims.
Dismembering of the NHS is all part of a plan, a conspiracy to allow the introduction of Private Health Insurance, and is vital to the corporate giants that lobby and hand out millions in bribes to secure.

Parliament will never be transparent, even though the broadcasts try to show different. Corruption drives our policies. It always has done, and those who think any different are fools………………

  • anon November 23, 2013 at 8:30 am

Labour and Rachel Reeves need to start demanding these statistics, and commit to a public inquiry over every Atos death as soon as they take office.

Every DWP or Atos worker involved a claimant who subsequently died (especially suicides) should individually face investigation and potential criminal charges.

Labour should also commit to full cooperation with the UN and international courts, as well as pressing for transparancy from the DWP with a full disclosure of the mortality rates now.

  • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 23, 2013 at 12:14 pm

It’s about time some of the faceless bastards that work behind the scenes of the DWP, and broke ranks to show they have some sympathy for the people they are sending to their graves……..

Nothing is so easy as pretending you don’t know what’s happening.

Cowardice, while others are subjected to pure evil, is akin to witnessing a murder and failing to come forward with evidence to nail the perpetrator……….

Most of the DWP staff are part of a union, Unions were structured to help others from the wrath of unpleasant employers by combining their unified strengths and speaking as one……………

The word YELLOW comes to mind, cowering behind their desks as the letters of social hate spew forth into the arms of the most vulnerable……

The question of MAN or MOUSE seems totally appropriate.

or will you cower in fear of what might be said by a bullying boss?

“Let your consciences be your guiding light”………………..

    • bobchewie November 23, 2013 at 12:24 pm

@geoff the DWP are under orders to save taxpayers money and since we have been deemed as theiving bastards it follows that we should be treated as such..overlooking the obvious that its the corporates that are the theving bastards but they would claim they are contributing to society..by downsizing it…

Many of you will be lucky this christmas. You will receive an abundance of seasonal cards of every shape and size, featuring festive scenes, old and new, and cards sprinkled with glitter, featuring glad tidings and words of merriment worthy of a big kiss………………

Others will receive the “plain brown envelope of death”, from no other than the “caring” ,DWP……….

You will never know who sent it, they will be alien to you. An unknown name from an unknown town……….

But one things for sure, the misery of the contents will hold the power to bring life or death……………

  • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 25, 2013 at 10:14 pm

    Taken from JOHNNY VOID;

atos_kills_bannerA woman stripped of benefits after being found ‘fit for work’ by Atos has taken her own life the Bristol Post have reported today.

    According to the newspaper:

“PARTIALLY-sighted and only able to walk with the aid of a stick, Jacqueline Harris suffered crippling pain due to slipped discs in her back and neck. Her mobility was reduced further when a dog savaged one of her wrists.

“Despite being in agony which strong pain relief could not ease, the 53-year-old was deemed to be fit for work following a government health assessment and told to find a job.

“Her sister claims the verdict that she was ineligible for disability benefits drove her to take her own life earlier this month.”

Predictably both the DWP, and Atos have attempted to wash their hands of the affair. There will be no apology for this tragic loss of life and Atos claim it is nothing to do with them: “we do not make decisions on people’s benefit entitlement, nor are we involved in the appeal process.”

If this were a banker, or businessman who had been driven to suicide over a Government policy then this story would be on the front page of every newspaper. When a yuppy jumps out of a skyscraper, or a celebrity has a breakdown, we are all invited to share in their tragedy. The rich ‘feel’ things more than the poor the media narrative suggests. Meanwhile reports of suicides due to welfare reform are shrugged off by right wing newspaper columnists as the “act of someone in a fevered, unstable state of mind.” If the poor cannot cope with their poverty then that is a personal failing, not a problem with how society is structured.

Only the wealthy might be troubled by losing their income – the horny-handed working class are expected to get on with things, make do and mend, or queue outside foodbanks with a stiff upper lip. Hunger and homelessness is just a triviality compared to a dent in the investment portfolio or having to sell the second home.

When campaigners have warned that Atos Kills this has not been hyper-bole. The problem is that the ruthless assessments for sickness and disability benefits kill the wrong people to have any major media impact. There is more sympathy for the squeezed middle-classes having to cut down skiing holidays than there is for people driven to desperate acts due to having nothing at all. Atos merely culls in the eyes of this Government and those who support them, and many of them see nothing wrong with that.

  • GEOFF REYNOLDS November 26, 2013 at 10:32 pm

………….and in simple terms, this is the reason the DWP IS TAKING LIVES ON A DAILY BASIS, to pay back the billions that was used to prop up the greed of the money institutions when it all went tits up.

The deaths are not grave mistakes, just mistakes that take you to your graves………

We are told that we are all created equal, yet the value of a rich person is greater than the many poor who are displaced and fall at the error of the rich mans follies………..

Your death is of no importance to the people who wield power, a statistic lost in time and a price worth paying to maintain dominance………

    The Bank Bailout

According to the National Audit Office, The UK taxpayer spent £850bn bailing out the Banks in 2008. This is almost twice the nation’s total annual budget. For this amount, the UK could have funded the entire NHS (£106.7bn a year) for eight years , our whole education system for twenty years (£42bn a year) or provided two hundred years of Job Seekers Allowance (£4.9bn a year).

    Dear Meredith Ong,

When will ministers accept that it is not fit for purpose and never will be?

Whose head will roll if it is abandoned?

What happened to the security measures within the software?

How long before it is abandoned, leaving one of the largest bills for a failed project in British

    • bobchewie November 26, 2013 at 11:37 pm

@geoff and BTC. It seems to me that a cruel slight of hand is ttaking place. It seemed to me that the amendment to social security act aka welfare ‘ reforms ‘ is wedded to the NHS changes taking place..
Rather than badger and harass disabled people and use the likes of MSM disinfo machine to discredit really sick people to justify the brutal Atos WCA ..
Monies could be spent on getting sick people back to being healthy if thats possible ..but they won’t for a number of reasons which is that there would be less money for the poverty pimp trade and it would mean that the privateers in health wouldn’t make much profit since they tend to treat the easiest and cheapest patients ..
The other thing is that you have to remember the DWP bulk of payments goes to pensions hence the name Dept for work and pensions ..but blaming elderly people for the countries problems is not a vote winner

      • AL December 4, 2013 at 2:24 am

Reckon the Elderly are next. It’s been muted. But it’s always pick groups off one at a time. Don’t want groups getting together for solidarity. They put the age up for retirement didn’t they? They tried to grab bus passes. What’s next? Why are so few folks awake? When all our rights are gone there will be nothing anyone can do.

And people don’t keep blaming the DWP staff. Some are nice and you can tell sometimes it’s not easy carrying out cruel policies. I appreciate someone being human with me. I reckon it costs them too, when they care. Yes there are some mean ones who don’t know how to behave but don’t tar them all.
Have been driven up the pole trying to sort stuff out (policy and rules) but a bit of honesty and decency has managed to get me back down it again. Heaven help us if the decent ones felt we don’t appreciate them. Reckon it’s a hard job. We need to keep the blame where it’s due. Government Policy.

Changes that have happened over the past month —–

ATOS has left the DWP contract & are not doing medicals. 1st job done ATOS is f***k off out of it.
Now where for the DWP to hide behind now !!

The DWP are now giving their workers down JobCentrePlus 4 hours traing looking at Wiki to brush up on medical conditions to be Healthcare Professionals after 4 hours looking at Wikipedia at what cancer means. = The DWP are cutting corners on the medical assessments by using their untrained staff to make medical judgements.

All those disabled that have not been processed with be deemed as unemployed & treated as A Income Surpport case with no medical conditions considered.

For those who have not filled out the form EAS or it seems the A2 Income Surpport form the DWP visiting Department [Integrity Department] will arrange a false assessment [undercover medical] for them to get more info. The DWP arrange these appointment by cold calling on the phone.

I had them Friday – The DWP Home Visit said they had spoke to me a few days before that [which is a lie] They wanted my address & NI number – I said can ou prove who you say you are otherwise I am giving you no personal details. The DWP said they can`t prove who they were until I gave them personal details which they have already. Stale mate or pantomime season has started.

Desperate on the sinking flag ship.

PIP roll out is well behind being rolled out, more like rolled up.

    • bobchewie December 4, 2013 at 5:25 am

Razor ..why were atos advertising for more disability assessors then just recently ..?

      • Stepping Razor December 4, 2013 at 12:16 pm

ATOS is a denial Propaganda company with share holders.

Ministers, MPs, the DWP and campaigners point the finger at Atos, the company contracted to carry out these tests on behalf of the DWP. The DWP say Atos are at fault and that they will improve the system by breaking their monopoly and allowing other companies to bid for the contract. Labour have also announced that they will “sack Atos”. DWP ministers blame the civil servants and the civil servants seethe. It is a classic case of political, “it wasn’t me Miss, it was them”.

Leaked Evidence Shows DWP Set Quotas For ‘Fit For Work’ Assessments

Why are so many sick and disabled people being failed by the Work Capability Assessment and who is to blame?

        1. The contract between DWP and Atos Healthcare specifies all costs and solutions MUST be based around an artificially imposed ‘statistical norm’ for the Support Group of 11% (which has since been allowed to rise slightly). This ‘gears’ the whole WCA system to deliver that ‘desired result’.
        2. The manner in which the audit system is used within Atos Healthcare, including whistle-blower evidence of ‘punitive auditing’, means there is insufficient latitude for assessors to freely use their professional judgement about an individual’s true fitness for work.

@ razor just like jcp targets really what a coincidence.
Also why bother advertising for a HCP as assessor if you have targets of claimants to deny disability

You could get an accountant to do the job…same bean counter mentality

      • Stepping Razor December 4, 2013 at 12:23 pm

There is one ATOS WCA Assessment office left open in the whole country. So the new thing is contracted home visits by the new contractor.

        • bobchewie December 4, 2013 at 4:00 pm

I wonder what they will do with all those closed assessment centres now sell them off as homes ?

  • Stepping Razor December 1, 2013 at 4:02 pm

The Integrity Department is for DWP Fraud – They help you fill out forms [How Kind] they will come to your house to rob you, your ID, your NI number & anything else they can rob. They have not proved who they are, yet they want to come in your house like a cold caller. The fear the DWP have is written letters either from them self or by me. They do not want anything in writing so as it can be called – Not Worth The Paper It`s Written On – A very rushed ill thought out new scam to fill the gap of ATOS has gone.

  • Stepping Razor December 1, 2013 at 4:08 pm

IDS has always been a failure in every thing he does. The £750 Million contract to ATOS has now cost double that in the failures & appeals. Not only has IDS wasted more & more taxpayers money, but the whole con government is living above their means. So a repeat banking crash will happen again very soon = Another worse recession is on the cards of failure. Groundhog Day – Time for IDS to say where all the tax payers money has gone on failed sub contractors only their to rip off the DWP.

It seems the DWP have lost [Deleated] all past data to cover their backs for fraud!!

    this is no coincidence………………………………………

UNUM Provident developed a special list of “independent” medical examination physicians whom it believed would be willing to write reports denying the existence of disability. As part of this plan, Provident made agreements with outside vendors to provide referrals to IME physicians that they believed would be willing to write medical reports supporting the denial of benefits.

Write a letter DWP until then you are not fir for purpose. How can the DWP prove I have been defrauding the DWP & for how long !! Answers please DWP !! The DWP have no answers because they have no new info because I have not signed anything in the Welfare Reform updates 2010. Signed your life away for the DWP to run ID fraud off your name & NI number. 5 benefit changes the government don’t want you to know about

    1. Disabled people denied a key benefit have had their right to appeal reduced

    2. Long-term sick people are having their benefits sanctioned … for being sick

    3. 50,000 disabled people are being cut out of work

    4. There’s now a one-year limit on hundreds of thousands of people’s sickness benefit

    5. Eviction letters are now including veiled threats to remove people’s children

The new PIP face to face assessment with no forms to fill out. These assessment are under taken by DWP & JobCentre Plus staff who have no medical knowledge whatsoever. They are told to look medical conditions up on Wikipedia to be then called a medical Healthcare professional. The whole PIP roll out is very open to fraud within the DWP & JobCentre Plus. Failed. So nothing in writing can not be proved as evidence because there is no evidence.

The contradiction policy is of course full of contradictions – So having a review & report on failures will be a contradiction in terms. A contradiction is a default – A not fit for purpose because it makes no sense except if it is not written down in a letter & not cold calling to force to see you. Who are you ! Can you prove who you are cold caller !! Of course they can`t prove who they are until you prove who you are – Stale Mate & It`s Pantomime season again. Once in my writing it makes the DWP look stupid & thick that the DWP are scared of writing letters to me.

It is now DWP policy to do cold calling by phone & at home !! It is illegal to cold call & you are told on things like the TV watchdog show to be weary of cold callers & not put up with their scamming tactics !! Blame watchdog DWP !!

“I do enjoy the weekly part of my job as Premier on Wednesdays at Prime Ministers Question Time ,its the only opportunity I get to see what my Government are up to “ .
We have gathered that the way Wayward ID Smith is pouring Taxpayers Money down the Drain with his egotistical handling of Universal Credit .He maintains he has his finger on the pulse of the whole operation ,it is therefore time his lying hands were tied behind his back and give someone else a chance to rescue the botched procedure .
It was stated at the Parliamentary Committee’s Annual report Procedure yesterday that a JCP Advisor has repeatedly reported the abuse of Sanctions against Claimants but has been rebuffed by the powers that be also highlighting that the Transparent Whistle Blowers Charter is just another Sham exercise to appease Public disquiet over the Staffordshire Debacle .
I do believe there is systematic abuse by Advisers but the Whistle Blower should know his complaints would fall on deaf ears .If there is a Genuine Whistle Blower out there anywhere within the system please get in touch and we can start the ball rolling from the outside of the Establishment .We the Public are behind you 100% .

Is there another type of e-petition that could be used?
This one does not allow me to sign because i do not currently reside in the UK.

My ESA50 is due to be returned to DWP by Dec 30th, 2013. It is still under my sofa.

It hurts me a lot that i cannot sign the petitions. I am struggling with ‘survivor guilt’ – I feel like i moved overseas just before things got ‘really bad’ ( as if the 70’s and 80’s weren’t hellish enough!) – people i grew up alongside are dying because of these despicable cuts.

Thatcher wouldn’t let me vote. Now I cannot petition on my own behalf and on behalf of other people who are in danger of being killed by the government.

The Prime Minister added: Can we do more, can we really justify
the huge number of great privileges and a lot
of problems. And being part of a series of
emails between Myler and Tom Crone, which referenced phone
hacking and has david cameron been charged with offenses, including
an 11-year-old boy charged with burglary. First of all I couldn’t believe the key was in the best
david cameron interests of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.

      Dear ALL. Sorry to go
      O/T here

But what I have to inform you all warrants your attention
It is serious in nature and its possible consequences

Today in a certain newspaper an item which should have been front page news ended up on other pages and in a reduced manner due to censorship
It is about historic sex abuse of children.
The item in this article it reported that a senior figure from a previous
      Govt ie Thatcher
Was found to have commited serious sex abuse crimes against a young boy aged eleven

This happened due to an intelligence operation carried out using customs
Who had seized items being carried by a known abuser
      The items were video tapes
      After seizing the tape
When played it showed the senior cabinet minister abusing the boy
The newspaper has not named the minister however a document record of the seizure had recorded a description of the tape which was that initials written on the cassette
      The initials were
      ” LB ”

Also the article did not name the courier of the tape.
He was an ex teacher and coach driver
      He now resides in
It is thought that the offence took place there.
The minister is still alive and is a known figure especially to nick clegg.
Thank you that is all…for the moment

The DWP mortality statisticians must be asking to work evenings and weekends to keep up with the rising deaths associated with their department and its role with ATOS………………..

Have you noticed how the deaths are escalating as the welfare cuts start to bite?

This is just the beginning, wait till the shit hits the fan and the deaths seem to be an everyday occurrence……………..

………….and yet the odious politicians claim there is no link, therefore the line of coffins that stretch for over a mile and three quarters, must be down to the inclement weather we are facing…………….
