FRIDAY 04 JANUARY 2013
Ministers were accused last night of demonising benefits claimants in an attempt to justify their controversial decision to increase most state “handouts” (Black Triangle’s quotation marks – Ed) by less than inflation.
Polling commissioned by the Trades Union Congress suggests that a campaign by Tory ministers is turning voters against claimants – but only because the public is being fed “myths”.
The criticism comes before a Commons vote next Tuesday on the Welfare Benefits Uprating Bill, which will ensure that most benefits and tax credits will rise by only 1 per cent for the next three years. Labour, which will vote against the measure, will try today to answer Tory claims that it is “soft” on scroungers by announcing a “tough love” plan to force adults who have been out of work for more than two years to take up a government “job guarantee” or lose their benefits.
Chancellor George Osborne and Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, have both said people in work could be forgiven for resenting those on what they perceive are unwarranted benefits.
According to YouGov, people who know least about the facts are the most hostile.
More than half of those who are “least accurate” about the system think benefits are too generous, while fewer than one in three (31 per cent) of those giving the “most accurate” answers agree.
Frances O’Grady, the TUC general secretary, said:
“It is not surprising that voters want to get tough on welfare. They think the system is much more generous than it is in reality, is riddled with fraud and is heavily skewed towards helping the unemployed, who they think are far more likely to stay on the dole than is actually the case. Indeed if what the average voter thinks was true, I’d want tough action too.”
A government source said last night:
“If Labour seriously thinks stopping households receiving more in benefits than families earn going out to work is prejudiced and ignorant, it is completely out of touch.”

” Chancellor George Osborne and Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, have both said people in work could be forgiven for resenting those on what they perceive are unwarranted benefits. ”
some bankers that created the “crisis” and their servants osborne and smith can be considered “people in work” ?
what benefits they are offering to the society ?
ONLY DAMAGES !

“There are quite a few Israelis with European passports who complain about the ultra-Orthodox who “bled them dry” in Israel, but who have moved to Berlin, and are living on unemployment benefits of 800 euros a month. They don’t have any problem with this: It’s the Germans’ money, and we deserve it, they assert.”
In this way a couple of German unemployeds perceive 1.600 euro per month and 19.200 euro per year and thus can live in dignity.
the concrete problem is that the government and some media are committing crimes abusing of their position of power and of the popular credulity !
* On average people think that 41 per cent of the entire welfare budget goes on benefits to unemployed people, while the true figure is 3 per cent.
* On average people think that 27 per cent of the welfare budget is claimed fraudulently, while the government’s own figure is 0.7 per cent.
* On average people think that almost half the people (48 per cent) who claim Jobseeker’s Allowance go on to claim it for more than a year, while the true figure is just under 30 per cent (27.8 per cent).
* On average people think that an unemployed couple with two school-age children would get £147 in Jobseeker’s Allowance – more than 30 per cent higher than the £111.45 they would actually receive – a £35 over-calculation.
* Only 21 per cent of people think that this family with two school-age children would be better off if one of the unemployed parents got a 30 hour a week minimum wage job, even though they would actually end up £138 a week better off. Even those who thought they would be better off only thought on average they would gain by £59.
He can’t regulate them because you can only oppress your poor neighbour and make fools and morons of the rest of your countrymen and women with the help of thugs and lawless environments to lure them in.
The decision to so cheat the public and so transgress every law of the Bible must continue to cause unimaginable suffering in the heart and mind of our committed Christian of a Prime Minister who lives out and breathes the morals and values and language of the Bible – those morals and values which permeate every aspect of British culture, heritage and contemporary politics. The deep Britain which is so much his home, where equality, human dignity and the importance of each one of us is infinite, like in the dream of Martin Luther King where the powerless and oppressed are raised up, a land ever increasing in freedom and democracy from the abolition of slavery and the emancipation of women to the welfare state, the feeding of the hungry, the care of the sick, the shelter of the poor, the love of our neighbour and the shared values of responsibility, hard work, charity, compassion, humility, self-sacrifice, love…
…pride in working for the common good and honouring the social obligations we have to one another, to our families and our communities…
this Christian land of moral, lawful, accountable, peaceful, righteous people who speak the truth to lawless bankers, politicians, rioters, extremists and segregationists and must not lose sight of the vital values of tolerance, equality and human rights, those values drawn from the Bible, the agenda we have in common which goes to the heart of what it means to belong in this country.
