Such practiced liars. I hope their precious ‘squeezed middle’ reject their product in droves.

My O’ my, may Unum’s nose forever grow longer 🙂

Perhaps people should take a look at –

    Unum’s Game Plan

Unum are actively advising their Financial Advisors, (Salesmen), to use the fact that under the new welfare reforms – “Even the highest rate of benefits will fail significantly short of what most clients need in order to meet their usual household bills.” If that isn’t an attempt to profit from the current round of welfare reforms my nephew is a monkey and that makes me a monkey’s uncle.

Psychosocial and Disability Research (UnumProvident Centre) Cardiff University

UnumProvident Centre provides funding for Psychosocial and Disability Research based at Cardiff University. The Director of the Centre is Professor Mansel Aylward. He is the former Chief Medical Adviser at the DWP and was instrumental in the DWP accepting the UnumProvident concepts applied in the US and was influential in how the Welfare Reform Act should be implemented.

It is believed that the UnumProvident Centre has been one of the leading forces in trying to make it harder for allowances to be paid to the dying, the sick, the disabled and their carers. Staff from UnumProvident were important in the design of the Personal Capability Assessment and of the new, much harsher Work Capability Assessment required if an Employment and Support Allowance is to be paid.

Professor Aylward continues to be involved in research for the DWP. He has provided support for Dame Carol Black, proponent of the replacement of sick-notes with “well-notes”.

    Mike O’Donnell

The current Chief Medical Officer of Atos Healthcare, Mike O’Donnell was from March 2000 to September 1020 Chief Medical Office of Unum.

Can Unum or (or perhaps Mike O’Donnel himself), please confirm that Mike O’Donnel has no financial interest whatsoever in Unum, (i.e. the he does not hold, directly or indirectly, any shares in Unum or any associated company), and also let us know if there is a family relationship between Mike O’Donnell & Peter O’Donnell, (Unum’s Chief Financial Officer),

I could go on and on, perhaps it’s time to challenge Tim Jackson & Jack McGarry of Unum to a public debate on this very issue.

Also, catering to this supposed ‘squeezed’ middle is akin to prioritising someone with a sprained ankle over someone who’s been hit by a train.

If the squeezed middle do take up Unum’s ‘income protection’ plans they are going to find themselves quite bewildered when it comes to trying to claim on them. Sadly it will take a long time before that particular penny drops.
