The BBC’s Newsnight Scotland programme is appealing for members of the public to join an audience for its next debate on issues associated with the independence referendum.

The programme makers would like to hear what you think about pension provision and welfare arrangements – both of which are emerging as key topics in the referendum debate.

Do you think independence is the best way to safeguard existing welfare provision?

Do you think independence is a threat to your pension?

Does the welfare state need radical reform, whether Scotland becomes independent or not?

When, where, time?

  • Programme: Newsnight Scotland
  • Where: BBC Scotland, Pacific Quay, Glasgow, G51 1DA
  • When: Monday, 2 September
  • Times: Doors open at 17:45 with the show being recorded between 19:30 and 20:30
  • Deadline: Make sure your application is sent by Friday, 30 August

Newsnight Scotland will have a panel of guests who will attempt to answer questions like these and any others you wish to put to them.

The special programme will be recorded on Monday, 2 September, at BBC Scotland’s Glasgow headquarters and participants will need to be available from 17:45 to 20:30

Guidelines require the BBC to reflect a broad range of views.

To help us do this, we will ask all members of the audience whether they are associated with a political party and if they already have a view on the referendum.

Voters in Scotland will go to the polls on Thursday, 18 September, next year when they will be asked the straight yes/no question:

“Should Scotland be an independent country?”

Would love to fill out your application form, but as I hardly go out alone due to mental health disabilities here’s another occasion where my voice will not be heard.
